How does the free 48-hour matching service work?
The service has four steps: you complete a short care form, we screen caregivers for dementia care experience, we send 3 to 5 video profiles within 48 hours, and you watch each video interview before choosing whom to meet.
- Tell us about your situation. Fill out the short care form.
- We screen for dementia care experience. We look for caregivers with experience in dementia care.
- You receive 3 to 5 video profiles within 48 hours. Each profile is a caregiver we think fits what you described.
- You watch each video interview and decide. Only then do you choose whom to meet.
There is no obligation to meet anyone. If none of the first profiles feels right, tell us what was missing.
What is on the short care form?
The short care form asks about your family member's situation and the kind of help you are looking for, so we can match caregivers to your needs rather than send a generic list.
Helpful things to have in mind: what daily tasks are hardest right now, which hours of the day or week you need covered, and whether you are looking for a few hours of company, hands-on help, or round-the-clock presence. You do not need a diagnosis letter or medical records to start. If you are unsure what level of help fits, our pages on memory care at home and 24-hour live-in care describe the options.
How do you screen caregivers for dementia care experience?
We screen caregivers for dementia care experience, and the video interview is the proof you can see for yourself.
Dementia affects memory, thinking and the ability to manage daily activities, according to the CDC's overview of dementia. Because those changes shape every day of care, we want you to hear caregivers talk about their experience in their own words, not just read a summary. That is why we put the interview in front of you.
We describe our caregivers only as screened for dementia care experience. We do not claim more than that, and you should judge fit for yourself from the video.
What will I see in a caregiver video profile?
Each video profile lets you watch a caregiver's video interview so you can judge how they communicate, how they talk about dementia care, and whether they seem like a good personal fit.
Things worth listening for as you watch:
- How they describe past experience with memory loss.
- How they would respond if your family member became confused or upset.
- Whether their tone feels patient and respectful.
- Whether their availability matches the schedule you need.
Watch with other family members if you can. The person receiving care will spend the most time with this caregiver, so a second opinion helps.
